There are five categories: Wealthy Global Citizens (LTR-W), Wealthy Pensioners (LTR-P), Work-from-Thailand Professionals (LTR-T), High-Skilled Professionals (LTR-H), and Dependents (LTR-O).

Where personal income is between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 per year, they must invest at least USD 250,000 in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment, or Thai property. They also need health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 100,000.

Applicants need income of at least USD 80,000 per year over the past two years. Where personal income is between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 per year, they must show additional proof of qualification, such as a master's degree or higher or owned intellectual property. They must hold an employment contract with a public company listed on a stock exchange or a private company that has operated for at least 3 years with minimum combined revenue of USD 50 million over the last 3 years, including wholly owned subsidiaries. They also need health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 100,000 held in a bank account under the applicant's name for no less than 12 months.

Applicants need income of at least USD 80,000 per year over the past two years, though those working for Thai government agencies are exempt from the minimum personal income requirement for this category. Where personal income is between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 per year, they must show additional proof of qualification, such as a master's degree or higher in science and technology or an academic professor's degree across all fields. They must be employed by contract in a Thai or foreign company whose activities fall under the targeted industries, or provide proof of expertise in the fields specified by the Thailand Board of Investment. They also need health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand, or a deposit of at least USD 100,000 held in a bank account under the applicant's name for no less than 12 months.

There is no limit on the number of dependents. A spouse must be legally married, with no common law marriage accepted, and parents, children under 20, and legal dependents may be included. Each dependent needs health insurance with at least USD 50,000 coverage, or social security benefits insuring treatment in Thailand, or at least a USD 25,000 deposit per dependent held in a bank account under the applicant's or the dependent's name for no less than 12 months.

There are no nationality restrictions for applicants seeking the Thailand LTR Visa.

Applicants of any age can apply, except for Wealthy Pensioners, who must be over 50 years old.

There are no medical requirements for applicants of the Thailand LTR Visa.
